For weeks, the odds for betting on the 2024 Royal Rumble have suggested an outcome where either CM Punk or Cody Rhodes would win. Since Punk and Cody’s face-off on this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw, the WWE odds have shifted both wrestlers down the pack, with a new Superstar featured at the top.
Gunther is now tied with CM Punk in the odds to win the Royal Rumble with a moneyline of +150. This time yesterday, Gunther’s Royal Rumble odds were set at +300, placing him third overall behind the American Nightmare.
2024 Men’s Royal Rumble Winner Odds
- Gunther +150
- CM Punk +150
- Cody Rhodes +225
- The Rock +900
- Drew McIntyre +1000
- Jey Uso +1400
- Sami Zayn +1800
- Kevin Owens +2500
- MJF +2500
- Brock Lesnar +3300
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is an expected Royal Rumble participant due to his recent appearances on WWE TV and his scheduled match at February’s Elimination Chamber PLE in Perth, Australia. He currently ranks fourth with +900 moneyline odds to be the last wrestler standing in the ring on Saturday night.
All other wrestlers will award gamblers a minimum of 10-to-1 payouts if they win the Rumble at online WWE sportsbooks.
Why CM Punk Will Win
Despite Punk’s legendary run in WWE from 2005 to 2014, he never was part of a main event match at WrestleMania. There’s no doubt that one of his goals is to achieve that benchmark during his return tenure, but that outcome may not happen in 2024 for two reasons.
The first is that his initial WrestleMania match was assumed to be against Seth Rollins, who is now out with injury. The alternate plan appears to be a Rhodes vs. CM Punk rivalry following the Rumble, based on the promos they cut on RAW.
The second is the prospect of The Rock appearing at WrestleMania 2024, which would necessitate his inclusion in the final match of the PLE.
Why Cody Rhodes Will Win
As soon as Cody returned to the WWE in 2021, it was clear he needed to win the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship and achieve what his father, the immortal Dusty Rhodes, did not accomplish during his illustrious career. Now, Rhodes’ fate may be tied to a CM Punk storyline, but the WWE could swerve their fans and put Cody over on Saturday.
Why Gunther Will Win
Gunther finished second to Cody in the 2023 Royal Rumble and has existed on the outside of the main title picture since attaining the Intercontinental Championship a record 593 days ago. He appears positioned to jettison up the card at any time, and he could be the Superstar who gains the most from Seth Rollins’ injury.
Will MJF Show Up?
Former AEW Champion and current pro wrestling free agent (possibly a work) Maxwell Jacob Friedman appeared in the Royal Rumble odds this month, with a moneyline that placed him 6th overall. Nearly 48 hours before the PLE, the MJF odds have dropped from +1000 to +2500.
Remember, these odds are placed on MJF’s chances of winning, not showing up. Also worth noting is that all MJF bets will become losers if he doesn’t make an appearance. We’re hopeful that MJF will be a surprise entrant at the Rumble, but we believe that he is already signed to AEW for a long-term contract.
That said, both the AEW and WWE are quiet on the situation, mimicking the days prior to CM Punk’s debut last fall.
